Today is World MS Day, the only global awareness raising campaign for MS. Every year, people with MS and MS organisations around the world come together to share information about MS and to raise awareness on how it affects the lives of more than two million people around the world.
Since its inception in 2009, World MS Day has reached hundreds of thousands of people in more than 67 countries worldwide and it continues to grow every year.
This year the organisers are asking people to imagine a world without barriers. At the World MS Day website they’ve been asking people to submit and share their One day wishes. Today the Wish Wall is unveiled, a place to explore everyone’s wishes and find out about access issues around the world.
You can also get involved with the Face of MS event. This has been organised by some of our friends in the MS Trust Facebook group. Simply take a picture of yourself add the donation code “text ‘MSTR01 £5′ to 70070″ and post it to Facebook or Twitter. This is a great way to raise awareness and also raise vital funds to help us to make a real difference for people living with MS!
MS Awareness Week in the UK ran from 28 April–4 May. At the MS Trust we celebrated 21 years of providing free, positive, reliable MS information and during the week we published our 21 stories page, where friends of the Trust – health professionals, supporters and people with MS – shared their views on the major achievements of the past 21 years and let us know what they think are the big challenges of the next 21 years.
Many of the stories are very moving and a powerful reminder of the work that’s been done, but also how much is still left to do. You can browse all the contributions here.
